Access to healthcare could soon become faster and more convenient for Mombasa residents following the launch of Afya Mtaani Powered by Helexia, a digital health platform sponsored by Helexia AI (K) Limited.
The initiative seeks to address challenges such as long queues, fragmented patient records, delayed referrals and limited coordination between health facilities by connecting hospitals, pharmacies, community health promoters and patients through one integrated digital system.

The platform is expected to strengthen community healthcare by enabling community health promoters to link households with health facilities more efficiently, improving follow-up for patients, maternal and child health services, and the management of chronic illnesses.
It will also introduce digital patient records, AI-assisted clinical support and integrated payment services to help healthcare workers make faster, informed decisions while reducing paperwork and improving continuity of care.
Officials say the initiative supports Kenya’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda by making quality healthcare more accessible, efficient and people-centred.

By bringing healthcare closer to communities through digital innovation, the partnership aims to ensure residents receive timely care regardless of where they seek treatment, while improving overall health outcomes across Mombasa.
