Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse has dismissed the rebranding of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition to the Ukombozi Alliance, saying Kenyans are more interested in leaders’ track records, ideologies and practical plans than changes in political names and formations.
Speaking during a public engagement at Muambani in Makueni Constituency, Mutuse said leaders must account for the mandates previously entrusted to them and clearly outline what they intend to deliver to Kenyans.
Mutuse challenged the opposition to demonstrate its record and present practical ideas to the electorate, saying Kenyans are looking beyond political slogans and party names.
He likened frequent changes in political formations to a chameleon changing its colours, arguing that leaders should instead focus on their plans and what they have delivered.
“I want to tell the Azimio people that even if you call yourselves Ukombozi, you hit your expiry date long ago, and Kenyans are now behind President William Ruto,” Mutuse said.
