Murang’a family in agony: Daughter fighting for her life after brutal attack at a birthday party

A family in Kangangu village in Maragua, Murang’a County, is crying for justice after their 17-year-old daughter was allegedly attacked and left unconscious before being dumped alongside the Kenol-Thika Highway.

Preliminary reports say the girl, who is currently fighting for her life at Kenol Hospital, was abducted from a bar in Kenol town, drugged, raped and burnt with acid before been dumped along the road.

According to the girls father Peter Kirii, the girl sat for her KCSE exams at Kagaa Secondary School last year and had graced a friends birthday party at the said bar before a male friend invited her to another alcohol joint in the same area.

Officers from Kenol Police Station were called in and took her to Thika Mission Hospital.

Three suspects in connection with the heinous act are said to have been arrested and later released under unclear circumstances.

Esther Njeri, the mother to the girl, while in tears said her daughter is set to undergo a number of surgeries as her right ear, breast and hip joint have been chopped off.

The family is now seeking justice for their girl accusing police officers from Kabati Police Station of laxity in carrying out investigations.
