Former poweful Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae’s son Michael Moragia Nyachae has been charged with allegedly stealing more than KSh1.2 million belonging to Sansora Group Limited.

Michael is accused of stealing KSh1,226,036 on diverse dates between March 28, 2019, and September 28, 2021, in Kisii County.

According to the charge sheet, Michael allegedly committed the offence contrary to Section 268(1), as read with Section 275 of the Penal Code.

The prosecution alleges that the money, amounting to KSh1,226,036, was the property of Sansora Group Limited.

Nyachae appeared before Magistrate Caroline Nyaguthie and pleaded not guilty.

Through his lawyers, Michael asked the court to release him on bail.

“In granting bail we are asking for the court to exercise discretion and we can tell you without doubt that the person before you belongs to distinguished family,” one of the accused lawyers argued.

The lawyers described the case as a case with a smoke without fire.

The lawyers told the court that the company named in the charge sheet is a family company.

The case will be mentioned on 29 September 2026 for pre trial directions.

Magistrate Mugo released the accused on a bond of KSh200,000 or an alternative of KSh50,000 cashbail.
