Police called after 3-year-old football prodigy dominates older kids on the pitch

A youth soccer match in Winter Park, Florida, took an unexpected turn after a disagreement involving a three-year-old player led to police being called to the field.

The incident, which occurred on October 25, 2026, involved Nevada, a young player participating in an i9 Sports league where he reportedly plays against children aged five.

Footage that has since circulated widely on social media shows Nevada scoring several goals during the match before cutting to a scene in which his parents speak with responding police officers.

In the video, Nevada’s father, Don, suggests that the dispute arose because his son was outperforming the other players.

However, league director Thomas Hayes gave a different account when contacting emergency services. According to audio obtained by the New York Post, Hayes told a 911 dispatcher that a parent was following him around and calling him names in front of other people.

Nevada’s mother, Martasia, told HuffPost that the experience had deeply affected her son. She said he remained eager to play soccer but no longer wanted to return to the venue where the incident happened.

She also alleged that her son had faced resistance throughout the season because of the age difference between him and the other players.

According to Martasia, several parents, coaches and the league director gathered before the match to discuss how to address her son’s participation. She said she approached the group to defend him, after which the situation escalated and police were contacted.

The mother expressed concern that Nevada had begun believing he was responsible for the disagreement.

Two officers from the Winter Park Police Department arrived at approximately 10 a.m. and assessed the situation.

A police report subsequently classified the incident as a civil matter, rather than a criminal case, according to a statement from the department.

The incident has drawn attention online, raising questions about how youth sports programmes accommodate children with different skill levels and how disagreements involving young players should be handled.
