Principal Secretary for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr. Raymond Omollo, has underscored the importance of women’s empowerment, access to education, healthcare and citizen participation in national development, saying these remain critical pillars in the Government’s efforts to transform lives and improve livelihoods across the country.
Speaking during an engagement with women’s groups and residents in Suna East Constituency, Dr. Omollo commended local women for organizing themselves into groups and undertaking economic activities that are improving household incomes and strengthening communities.
He noted that women play a central role in national development and that empowering them economically contributes directly to stronger families, better outcomes for children and more resilient communities.
Dr. Omollo highlighted the Government’s ongoing investments in education, noting that the sector continues to receive the largest share of the national budget. He said the recruitment of more than 100,000 teachers in less than three years demonstrates the Government’s commitment to ensuring every child has access to quality education.
“We do not want any child to miss the opportunity to learn because of a lack of teachers. That is why the Government continues to invest heavily in education to secure the future of our children and our country,” he said.
The Principal Secretary also urged residents to register under the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that the programme is enabling millions of Kenyans to access healthcare services without facing financial hardship.
He observed that more than 54 per cent of Migori County residents have already registered under SHA and called on those who have not yet enrolled to do so in order to benefit from affordable and accessible healthcare services.

On citizen registration and participation, Dr. Omollo welcomed recent reforms that have eased access to national identity cards, saying the removal of administrative barriers has enabled more Kenyans to obtain the vital document and access government services.
“Barriers that previously made it difficult for our people to access national identity cards have now been removed. As we do this, we also have an opportunity to register voters. In the Nyanza region alone, we have close to one million people who have national identity cards but do not have voter cards.
We are working together with all these leaders to make it possible for all of you, under the leadership of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), to access voter registration so that you have the power in your hands to decide who your leaders will be.
And as we do this, we do it because His Excellency President William Ruto has made it possible for us to belong just like everybody else across the country. That is why, together with all these leaders, as we stand here today and as we sit here today, with one accord, we have agreed that we will work together with all of you just like the rest of the country.
So that when we go to the elections next year, the re-election of President William Ruto will no longer be in question. It will be a guarantee, so that he can continue the transformation that he has started and that he is undertaking in the Republic of Kenya,” said Dr. Omollo.
The Principal Secretary also reiterated the Government’s commitment to enhancing security and service delivery across the country, noting that peace and stability remain essential for development and economic growth.
He called on residents to remain united, support development programmes and continue working together with leaders to advance the socio-economic transformation of Migori County and the country at large.
The engagement brought together local leaders, women’s groups and residents from across Suna East to discuss development priorities, service delivery and opportunities for empowering communities through government programmes.
