Raila flies out to Dubai amid wrangles over Nairobi leadership

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has left the country for Dubai amid raft of accusations over his involvement in Nairobi County leadership.

Odinga reportedly left the country on Monday accompanied by former Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and MP Junet Mohammed.

The three bumped into Azimio co-principal Gideon Moi who was enroute to Rome transiting through Dubai for personal business.

This comes amid accusations between President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) over Nairobi’s leadership.

It all began when embattled Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja said he was being fought for working with Raila Odinga. This is amid calls from UDA to have him impeached by the county assembly for failed systems in the city.

Speaking today on TV47’s breakfast show Morning Cafe, UDA MP Titus Lotee accused Sakaja of bringing in politics to defect from the real issues.

“It is wrong for Sakaja to hide behind parties and say ‘oh it is because I am working with ODM’. After elections we are mandated to serve our people not parties. If he said he is being fought for doing a good job then that would be another thing,” Lotee explained.

UDA Strategic Communications Advisor Arnold Maliba said they were not bothered by Sakaja’s relationship with Raila.

“UDA is not concerned if Governor Sakaja is working with ODM…If his partnership with ODM is bringing results, that is okay. Even President Ruto is working with governors from different parties,” Maliba added.
