President Ruto, who started his tour of the region on Sunday, May 4, was addressing residents of Kehancha area when the a flying shoes hit him on his left hand.

Police say that as the three are helping with investigations into the incident, a manhunt is ongoing to arrest more suspects.

According to sources privy to the investigations, authorities are piecing together intelligence to determine whether the incident was an isolated case of an angry person, or a deliberate attempt to breach the president’s security.

However, preliminary investigations have suggested that the incident may have been politically motivated and premeditated ahead of President Ruto’s visit.
