Three people have been arrested in Kehancha, Kuria West, Migori County, after a man hurled a show at President William Ruto.
President Ruto, who started his tour of the region on Sunday, May 4, was addressing residents of Kehancha area when the a flying shoes hit him on his left hand.
Police say that as the three are helping with investigations into the incident, a manhunt is ongoing to arrest more suspects.
According to sources privy to the investigations, authorities are piecing together intelligence to determine whether the incident was an isolated case of an angry person, or a deliberate attempt to breach the president’s security.
However, preliminary investigations have suggested that the incident may have been politically motivated and premeditated ahead of President Ruto’s visit.
In a video that is going round on social media, President Ruto is seen and heard talking to residents about lowering the cost of living when someone hurls a show at him. The president blocked the show with his right arm as it landed on him.
The address was briefly interrupted as the president’s security details rushed to the podium. They tried to clear the podium but President Ruto told them to stop.
