President Ruto to represent Africa at G7 Summit during three-day France visit

President William Ruto has announced that he will travel to France on Monday, 15th June 2026, to attend the G7 Summit, where he will represent Africa and advocate for reforms to the global economic system to better serve the continent’s interests.

Speaking during a church service at Nkarusha Seventh Day Adventist Church in Kajiado County on Sunday, Ruto said his participation in the summit shows Kenya’s growing influence and importance on the global stage.

“Tomorrow I will go to represent Africa at the G7 meeting. We want to present the agenda of Africa and discuss how the resources, land, population and potential of this continent can be used to create prosperity for Africans,” he stated.

The President said Kenya’s increasing presence in major international forums, covering trade, investment, climate action, and economic transformation, is evidence of the country’s emergence as a leading African voice in global affairs.

His remarks come amid ongoing criticism from opponents and some members of the public over the frequency and cost of his foreign trips.

Many Kenyans have raised concerns over how often the President is out of the country, with some arguing the trips are excessive and too costly for the taxpayer.

Ruto, however, dismissed the concerns, saying even those close to him have been urging him to slow down.

“Some people, out of love, are saying that I work too much and that I should take a holiday,” he said.

The President expressed confidence in his leadership and the direction of the country, saying that he is doing his best to make sure Kenya is top.

“I believe that there must be a reason why God made me the president of Kenya at a time like this. That is why I go an extra mile and do my very best to make sure that Kenya becomes a country that we can all be proud of. Kwa hivyo, msiwe na wasiwasi na mimi,” he said.
