TV47 has been recognized as the leading TV station in Kenya in comprehensively reporting matters Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR).

This is according to a report compiled by Resolve Communications and The Kenya Human Right Commission (KHRC) in the period between October 2023-June 2024.

The report states: “The Television Sector is dominated by TV47, Which has a leading total of 32 cases covered. This perhaps sparks an interest in how ‘new entrant’ media houses propagate the SRHR coverage.”

Some of the SRHR issues reported include teenage pregnancies, Abortion, GBV, HIV/AIDS and FGM.

Nairobi is said to portray a balanced media engagement, Mombasa, Kakamega and Kiambu are also prominent in actively addressing issues on SRHR.

The Media has been cited crucial in disseminating accurate, factual and timely information on SRHR.

The report was released during a 2 day workshop in Naivasha that has brought together stakeholders in the media industry, including the Kenya Editors Guild, Resolve Communications team and the Kenya Human Rights Commission.
