Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta continues to live and wallow in a fool’s paradise, this is according to the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.

In response to Uhuru’s remarks during a function to hand over the Jubilee Party leadership on Tuesday, September 22, that he believes the late Raila Odinga won the 2022 Presidential Election, the UDA Party says the remarks means that Uhuru has just realised that he totally lost power, and is going to “lose it in 2027”.

“Clearly, Uhuru has never healed from the humiliating defeat that he occasioned Raila in the hands of President William Ruto, even after employing State machinery,” UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar says. “President William Ruto won the 2022 election decisively and conclusively.”

The party is also accusing Uhuru of orchestrating “unconstitutional shenanigans” to subvert the will of Kenyans before, during and after the 2022 General Election.

“…the disappearance of Kenyans who were committed to UDA, the threats to IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati and FINAL ACT at Bomas of Kenya on August 15, 2022, which collapsed.”

Omar further accuses Uhuru of scheming with the United Opposition in a bid to unseat President Ruto in 2027, but remains confident that the incumbent will win resoundingly and once again “put Uhuru in the dustbin of political paralysis.”

“Truth be told, Uhuru would not have even won the 2013 and 2017 election were it not for the vigorous campaign mounted by President Ruto, then as his running mate. He owes his two terms to President William Ruto.”

During the Jubilee event, Uhuru said he still believes Raila won in 2022, despite the Supreme Court upholding Ruto’s victory. Uhuru also downplayed claims that he did not do enough to support Raila’s presidential bid, insisting that he did everything possible to help him win the presidency.

“Na kura akapata, na mimi mpaka wa leo najua ya kwamba yeye ndiye alishinda hiyo kura. Tunajua vile mambo ilienda, na hatutaki iende hivyo tena,” he added.
