6 people die, 7 seriously injured in accident along Narok-Mulot road

Six people were confirmed dead while seven others were seriously injured after they were involved in an accident along Narok -Mulot road on Sunday April 21, 2024 in Narok County.

The accident was confirmed by Narok Central Sub County Police Commander John Momanyi, who noted that it involved two private vehicles near Silanka area, a few kilometers from Narok town.

According to the police report, the accident occurred at about 10.00pm. 

One of the vehicles, a Toyota Sienta  with registration number KCW 804X had 7 passengers and was being driven by Eric Langat. 

The other vehicle, a Subaru Forester with registration number KCX062P was being driven by Ronald Langat.

“It happened that motor vehicle registration KCW 804X was heading towards Mulot and upon reaching at the location of the accident, he collided head on with an oncoming motor vehicle registration number KCX 062P which was heading towards Narok  from Mulot,and who was trying to overtake another motor vehicle.

“As a result of the accident, six unknown passengers on board Sienta died on the spot due to the impact.

“Seven others were rushed to different hospitals with serious and slight injuries,” read part of the police report.

The bodies were removed to Narok County hospital mortuary awaiting identification and postmortem.

Meanwhile, both vehicles were towed to Narok Police station yard pending  inspection.

The accident comes barely two months after a similar accident along Narok-Bomet highway that caused the death of one person while 16 others were seriously injured. 

This was after a matatu collided with a Mitsubishi Fuso lorry on January 8, 2024 at the Tegero area in Narok County around 1:15 am.

“A tragic road traffic  accident occurred today 08/01/24 at about 0115hrs  at Tegero area along Narok-Bomet road involving a Toyota Hiace matatu belonging to Transcar Galaxy Sacco and Mitsubishi Fuso lorry after a head on collision,” read part of police report.

Another road accident occurred on March 18, 2024 at Maungu area, Taita Taveta County, where 11 Kenyatta University students died.

The accident occurred when the bus, carrying public health students heading to Mombasa for an academic trip, collided with a trailer belonging to Transeast Limited.

Confirming the incident, Voi Sub-County Police Commander Daffala Ibrahim said 42 students injured from the accident were rushed to Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi.
