Jubilation and celebrations filled the air at Cape Media on May 25, 2026, as journalists from TV47 and Radio 47 were honoured during a special appreciation party organized to recognize the awards and nominations they have recently received in the media industry.
The event, marked by cake cutting and congratulatory messages from the management, brought together staff and executives to celebrate the achievements of the journalists whose work has continued to earn national recognition.
Among those celebrated was TV47 education reporter Andrine Kilemi, who was awarded during the 14th edition of the Annual Media Excellence Awards (AMEA) for her feature The Elusive Equalizer.
The report examined inequalities in the implementation of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) across the country.
The feature highlighted the harsh realities faced by learners in insecurity-prone regions such as West Pokot and Baringo counties, including poor infrastructure, teacher shortages, and dangerous journeys to school, compared to the better-equipped urban schools.
Camera person Jones Ng’ang’a, who worked alongside Kilemi on the story, was also recognized for his contribution to the award-winning piece.
TV47’s Shiksha Arora was also celebrated after winning the best influencer of the year at the recently held Kalasha Awards.

Speaking during the celebration, Cape Media CEO Mwenda Njoka praised the team for remaining innovative despite challenges facing the media industry.
“The entire media industry is facing a lot of challenges, competition from others, but with the kind of unity and purpose, if we think differently, work differently and engage differently we will be sustainable, everybody is a winner. This is a communal sport,” he said.
