Church elder arrested for defiling 14-year-old girl in Kitengela

Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County are holding a  church elder cum a school driver alleged to have defiled a 14-years-old minor.

The 39-year-old suspect was arrested four days after allegedly committing the act which was reported on Monday April 8, 2024 and proofed by the medical examination subjected to the minor.

The suspect who is a church elder and  a driver of Glorious Group of Schools and Church in Kitengela is said to have taken  advantage of the girl after she had been sent by her elder sister to wash clothes for him at a fee.

On Saturday April 13, 2024, the suspect through emissaries attempted to offer the poor family Ksh100,000 inducement to drop the case but the deal aborted on eleventh hour.

According to her cousin, Geoffrey Ndadema, the minor who is a grade 8 pupil at a school in Busia County had  visited  her elder sister for the April holiday.

While condemning the incident, the relative said the girl lacked exposure and could have been lured by the suspect due to a shared native language.

The minor narrated what transpired on the fateful day further claiming the suspect who expressed  his love for her was willing to marry her.

“I was watching TV in his house after cleaning everything and washing his clothes. He then told me that he loves me so much and he wanted to sleep with me. He forcefully raped me and promised to marry me when I finish school,” the minor told TV47.

Isinya Sub county police commander Patrick Manyasi said  on phone  the suspect will be arraigned at Kajiado law courts on MondayApril 15, 2024.
