Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has arrived in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya during the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala.
Kindiki shared updates of his trip through posts published on his official Facebook account on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, shortly before and after his arrival in Uganda.
While departing from Nairobi, the Deputy President said he was traveling on behalf of President William Ruto and the people of Kenya to attend the regional event.
“Departed Nairobi for Entebbe, Uganda to represent Kenya and President William Ruto during the swearing in and inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni, Kololo Ceremonial Grounds,” Kindiki posted.

Upon landing in Entebbe later in the day, the Deputy President confirmed his arrival and reiterated Kenya’s participation in the ceremony.
“Arrived in Entebbe, Uganda to represent Kenya at the swearing in and inauguration of President Yoweri Museveni at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on behalf of President William Ruto,” he wrote.

The inauguration ceremony has attracted several regional leaders, government officials, diplomats, and dignitaries from across East Africa and beyond, underlining Uganda’s strong diplomatic ties within the region.
Among the notable Kenyan leaders attending the event is former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who arrived in Kampala ahead of the ceremony and attended a State Dinner hosted by President Museveni at the Speke Resort Convention Centre.
Museveni was re-elected for his 7th term during Uganda’s General Elections held on January 15, 2026, extending his long-standing leadership of the East African nation.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to take place at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds in Kampala with heightened security and the attendance of high-profile guests.
