“I will never have an oops baby” – Radio47’s Alex Mwakideu

Radio47 presenter Alex Mwakideu has made it clear that every child he has was intentionally planned, revealing his firm stance on family planning and parental responsibility.

Speaking candidly during an episode of SAY WHAT, a TV47 show hosted by Betty Kyallo, Mwakideu shared his personal beliefs and parenting values with striking honesty.

The celebrated broadcaster, who recently marked an impressive 20 years in radio, emphasized that he made a commitment early in life to avoid unplanned parenthood, what he referred to as having an “oops baby.”

According to Mwakideu, all his children were brought into the world at the right time and by deliberate choice.

“I told myself even before I got married that I’m never going to have a child that I have not planned for. From baby number one, my wife and I organized. We’ve never had a wooi moment in our lives,” he said, adding, “When I’m not ready I may not give my best to the child.”

What stood out even more was his firm message to his children: “If any of them were to have a child without planning for it, he and his wife would not step in to take up the parenting role.”

He underscored that raising such a child would fall squarely on the shoulders of the mother.

“When my children grow up I will tell them, if you’re going out there to get a child, if you ever get a child, just know you’re going to start your own family. I’m not raising any grandson or grand-daughter, once you get pregnant, be ready, even if you will raise the child on the streets, I don’t care. Once you get pregnant be ready to be a mother, to start your own family.”

Mwakideu’s sentiments sparked mixed reactions online, but for him, the message is simple, the importance of intentional parenting cannot be overstated.

He believes that planning for children is not just a personal decision, but a responsible one that affects the child’s future and the family’s overall wellbeing.

He also dismissed any speculation about expanding his family further, stating clearly that he has no plans of having more children.

“With this economy, I cannot add another child, those three are enough. I don’t have any other kid out there,” Mwakideu clarified.

As one of Kenya’s most respected radio voices, Mwakideu’s words carry weight.

With two decades of experience, a strong fanbase, and a growing legacy in media, his openness on personal matters adds a layer of relatability that listeners continue to admire.
