Police officers from Sengera Police Station in Manga Sub-County have arrested a suspect and recovered an unlicensed Tokarev pistol alongside an empty magazine following a tip-off from vigilant members of the public in Magogo Village, Nyangena Sub-location, Nyamira County.
The operation, carried out on August 5, was triggered by credible information shared by residents who alerted officers to the presence of an illegal firearm in their community.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, officers moved to the location and successfully apprehended the suspect, preventing what could have been a dangerous situation for the local community.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody and escorted to Sengera Police Station for processing pending arraignment in court.
The recovered Tokarev pistol and empty magazine have been secured as exhibits as investigations into the matter continue.
The National Police Service commended the residents of Magogo Village for their cooperation and timely action, noting that their willingness to share information with law enforcement was instrumental in removing an illegal weapon from the community.
