Kilifi: Police officer arrested for slapping female colleague at police station

A police officer based at Gongoni Police Station in Magarini Sub County, Kilifi County was arrested on April 30, 2024 after he assaulted a female colleague while on duty.

The incident was reported at about 8.00 pm by OCS Gongoni Police Station chief inspector Bernard Kachiata.

The OCS explained that a police officer Winfred Ndanu was slapped by her colleague Yusuf Abdullahi, when she went to collect a file at the report office.

“Police officer Winfred Ndanu who had gone at report office to collect case file, was assaulted by her colleague Yussuf Abdullahi with slaps where she fell down.

“After screaming seeking for help, another police officer Erastus Ngui came for her rescue. She sustained injuries on her both cheeks and complains of upper toothache,” read part of police report.

She was rushed to Kijanaheri hospital for medication.

Meanwhile, Yussuf Abdullahi was arrested and escorted to Marereni Police Station to be placed in custody awaiting further processing.

Elsewhere in Garissa County, there was an attempted attack on Sangailu Police Station, in Hulugho Sub County on May 1.

“Kindly be informed that today 01/05/2024 at around 0212hrs suspected militants attacked Sangailu Police Station by firing AK47 rifle from southeastern side of the station.

“Officers responded swiftly and were able to secure the station, no casualty reported on the officers’ side,” read part of the police report.
