Kenya Pipeline Company PLC (KPC) is a publicly listed company on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, established in 1973 and operational since 1978.
It has grown into a key national infrastructure company that supports Kenya’s energy security and regional trade.
A 1,342-kilometre pipeline network that moves petroleum products from the Coast all the way to Western Kenya, powering homes, vehicles, and industries along the way.
The network runs in a loop from Mombasa through Nairobi to the Western Kenya towns of Nakuru, Eldoret, and Kisumu.
This is supported by an extensive system of storage depots strategically located in Mombasa (Kipevu, KPRL, Moi International Airport), Nairobi (JKIA, Nairobi Terminal), Nakuru, Eldoret, and Kisumu.
To keep fuel moving efficiently from the depots to the market, KPC has also established truck loading facilities in Nakuru, Eldoret, and Kisumu, alongside an airport hydrant system serving both JKIA and Moi International Airport, a setup that allows for direct and efficient fuelling of aircraft.
Altogether, KPC’s network boasts a total active storage capacity of 1,138,324 cubic metres, giving the country a substantial buffer to manage supply and cushion against disruptions in the fuel market.
This infrastructure shows that KPC does more than transport fuel.
It plays a key role in Kenya’s energy supply by ensuring petroleum products reach businesses, motorists, and households across the country every day.
