LP chairman claims Peter Obi will be declared Nigeria’s president

National chairman of the Labour Party (LP) Julius Abure has claimed the tribunal will declare Peter Obi as president of Nigeria.

The Labour Party chairman was optimistic that the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal would deliver a verdict in favor of Peter Obi.

Abure made the revelation while on a trip to the United States, during a meeting with Nigerians living in the US.

During an interview with the Daily Independent, Abure hinted that the presidential election petition tribunal will deliver its verdict on or before September 16.

On the other hand, his remarks were sharply opposed by Reno Omokri, ex-aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan, who maintained that Peter Obi’s case was very weak.

Omokri criticized Abure’s remarks, terming them as misleading. He instead suggested that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar, had a better case in challenging the presidential election results.

Abure had earlier rejected a Court of Appeal judgement over the wrangles rocking the Labour Party leadership.

The Court of Appeal in Owerri, Imo state capital, on August 24 invalidated all the off-season governorship primary elections conducted by the national chairman of the party, Julius Abure.

In an election that was held in Nigeria on Saturday, February 25, 2023, Peter Obi was number three, behind Abubakar and Tinubu who was the winner.

Both Obi and Abubakar rejected the outcome of the presidential election, and the matter was taken to the Presidential Election Petition Court in Abuja (FCT).
