Morara Kebaso abandons INJECT party for Jubilee ahead of 2027

Political activist-turned-politician Morara Kebaso has announced that he will contest the Borabu parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election on the Jubilee Party ticket, marking a major shift from the political movement he founded after the 2024 anti-government protests.

Speaking during an interview on Obinna TV on Monday, June 29, Kebaso confirmed that his INJECT Party has been put on hold as he aligns himself with the political realities on the ground.

“INJECT Party itakaa kwa kabati, kwa saa hizi tunafanya kazi na chama cha Dr Fred Matiang’i, Jubilee Party. Yes, I have joined the Jubilee Party, we have to go with the realities of the politics of the day,” Kebaso said.

He explained that Jubilee remains the dominant political force in the Gusii region, making it the most viable platform for his parliamentary bid.

“Pale Borabu, ama Nyamira County, ama Gusii region, huwezi kutaja kitu ingine. Lazima ikuwe Jubilee and you know you don’t want to make people emotional because they won’t even listen to the message that you have. They won’t even give you an opportunity to serve them,” he added.

The move represents a significant departure from Kebaso’s earlier political strategy. In the wake of the 2024 Gen Z protests, he launched the Injection of National Justice, Economic and Civic Transformation (INJECT) Party, positioning it as a youth-driven alternative to Kenya’s traditional political parties.

The party championed integrity, governance reforms and youth leadership, with Kebaso pledging to field candidates across the country. In April 2025, he announced that young aspirants seeking elective positions through INJECT would receive free party tickets to encourage greater youth participation in politics.

Earlier, he had also declared that INJECT had joined the opposition coalition, insisting that the movement was focused on providing practical solutions rather than engaging in political criticism.

“Our job is not to complain about this or that & him or her. Our mission is to offer solutions,” Kebaso said at the time.
