Police in Nakuru West have arrested a 52-year-old man accused of issuing inflammatory remarks and violent threats in a viral video linked to the upcoming 2027 general elections.
In a statement posted on its official X account on June 13, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations confirmed the arrest, saying, “Detectives in Nakuru West have apprehended a 52-year-old man following the circulation of a viral video in which he made inflammatory remarks and issued violent threats concerning the upcoming 2027 General Election.”
The suspect, identified as Isaiah Murithi Andrew, was arrested in the Shabab area after detectives launched investigations into the widely shared clip. According to investigators, Andrew is a self-proclaimed traditional healer and a speaker associated with a local “Bunge la Mwananchi” forum.
Authorities say the video raised alarm after he was allegedly seen encouraging unlawful assembly and issuing threats of armed violence.
The agency noted: “In the video, Andrew is seen inciting unlawful assembly by threatening armed violence and calling for resistance against authority.”
Police said the remarks were deemed a serious threat to public safety and national security, prompting swift action by law enforcement officers.
Following his arrest, Andrew is currently in custody, where he is being interrogated as investigations continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the video and his alleged role in its dissemination.
The detectives further warned against any form of incitement, emphasizing that such conduct will not be tolerated. The statement added: “The Directorate of Criminal Investigations remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining law and order.
Any form of incitement or threats that undermine peace and national security will be addressed firmly and in accordance with the law.”
Investigations into the incident are ongoing as authorities assess potential charges against the suspect.
