The National Police Service has strongly condemned the harassment of a female traffic police officer captured in a viral video while she was on duty in Nakuru County, describing the incident as unlawful and a violation of the service’s core values.
In a press statement released on May 8, 2026, the police said the incident, which occurred on Wednesday, May 6, involved a male motorist who subjected the officer to verbal abuse, intimidation, and actions that undermined her lawful authority.
Preliminary investigations have since established that the man seen in the video is also a police officer based in Nakuru County.
“The National Police Service condemns this behaviour in the strongest possible terms,” the statement read. “Such conduct is not only unlawful but also directly contradicts the core values of professionalism, discipline, respect, and integrity for which the NPS stands.”

The Service emphasized that no officer, regardless of rank or gender, should be subjected to harassment while carrying out official duties, noting that the conduct displayed in the video does not reflect the standards expected within the police service.
“The actions displayed by the male officer do not, in any way, represent the ethos, training, or code of conduct of the National Police Service,” NPS stated. “We are a Service built on honour, courage, and mutual respect, both among our members and towards the public we serve.”
The police further revealed that disciplinary and corrective measures have already been initiated against the male officer involved.
At the same time, the female traffic officer was praised for maintaining professionalism despite the confrontation.
“We further commend the female officer for her composure, bravery, and commitment to duty despite the provocation,” the statement noted, adding that her conduct “exemplifies the professional standards expected of every police officer in Kenya.”
The National Police Service also used the incident to remind officers across the country to execute their duties with decorum, discipline, and professionalism.
Reaffirming its commitment to accountability, the Service said it remains focused on eradicating indiscipline, harassment, and misconduct within its ranks, while encouraging members of the public to report such incidents through official reporting channels.
