Nikita Kering’ wins Best Female East Africa Category award at AFRIMMA

Popular Kenyan artist Nikita Kering’ has won Best Female East Africa category at AFRIMMA, marking her fifth victory at the continental music awards event.

Nikita Kering’ started singing when she was 3 years old. She began by entertaining her family members and proceeded to singing in Kindergarten functions.

Her mother recognized her talent and pushed her to sing in school and also join church choirs so that she can build her confidence .

At the age of 9, she curtain raised for Emmy Kosgei at her album launch which later landed the young girl an interview at Citizen TV. At the age of 16 she took a leap and wrote her first single ‘Happy with you.’

She came to the limelight in 2019 when she was selected to Mr Eazi’s emPawa 100 talent masterclass. In the same year she transitioned into a household name in East Africa. Also her single ‘Tragedy’ gained massive play and made history by becoming the youngest artist to win the award.

Some of her songs include ‘Ex’, ‘On Yah’,’Dilly darling’, ‘Better than ever’ among others. She has also collaborated with several artists such as “Kama Hauna” (feat. Ndovu Kuu & Scar Mkadinali), “Mimi na Wewe” (with Bridget Blue)”Let You Down” (feat. Kemena),”Pendana Nawe” (feat. DJ Tarico, Vic West, Trill Xoe, Max Kering & Omphile Mosome)

Besides music she has also partnered with beauty brands such as Fenty Beauty & Fenty Skin and also Netflix — Featured in the African region promotional campaign for the hit series Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
