Police in Mombasa have arrested four suspected members of an armed criminal gang in Likoni Sub-County.

According to the National Police Service, the arrests were made on September 15, 2026, following intelligence that armed individuals had been spotted near Likoni Secondary School.

Officers from Inuka Police Station were deployed to the area and intercepted four suspects who were allegedly armed with crude weapons, including machetes and a slasher.

The National Police Service said the suspects were taken to Inuka Police Station, where they remain in custody pending processing and arraignment.

The arrests come amid heightened security patrols aimed at tackling criminal activities and enhancing public safety across the country.

In a statement posted on its X account on September 16, the National Police Service said security operations had been intensified to “combat criminal elements and protect members of the public.”

Police have also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The service encouraged members of the public to use the toll-free emergency numbers 999 and 911 when reporting incidents.

It also provided the DCI’s toll-free reporting line, 0800 722 203, under the campaign #FichuaKwaDCI, as well as a WhatsApp number, 0709 570 000.

The National Police Service said reports can be made anonymously, urging the public to continue working with security agencies to help prevent crime.

The four suspects are expected to face the relevant charges once investigations and processing are completed.
