Ruiru: Two KCSE candidates found with phones in exam room

Two students from a secondary school in Ruiru, Kiambu County were on Wednesday November 6, 2024 caught with mobile phones in the exam room while the examination was just about to start.

Ruiru DCIO Jeremiah Ndumbai reported that while monitoring exams in the sub-county, they received information about a student at Membely High School with a phone, in violation of Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) regulations.

This discovery led to a search, which uncovered another student also in possession of a phone.

Both devices were confiscated, and the students were allowed to continue with the exam.

Meanwhile, Ruiru Deputy County Commissioner Julius Too, who led the monitoring team, stated that KNEC would take further action against the students linked to exam irregularities.

He also noted that no other incident had been reported across the 18 exam centers in the sub-county.
