Seven people were on Saturday, April 25 evening shot dead by suspected armed bandits at Kwa Kamari Village in Tseikuru, Mwingi North.
The killings come only a week after the government disarmed the local National Police Reservists.
The victims were ambushed at Kwa Kamari market, where three were killed, with four others being ambushed while tilling a neighbor’s farm and sprayed with bullets in the worst attack since the 1986 Ngomeni Massacre.
The bandits reportedly fled into the nearby Mwingi Game Reserve in a Toyota probox.
ODM Nominated Senator Beth Syengo has condemned the act asking the Ministry of Interior to ensure the Kwa Kamari Police Post that was constructed by the county government is equipped with security officers.
She has also asked for disarming of the bandits and deployment of security officers in the area to restore security.
