Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna on Sunday September 13, 2026 took Nairobi City by storm as thousands of Linda Mwananchi supporters lined the streets and joined the procession to Jacaranda Grounds for a rally.
The rally at Jacaranda marked the climax of the day, with Sifuna using the platform to rally Nairobi residents behind his 2027 presidential bid.
Sifuna’s convoy snaked its way from All Saints Cathedral, where he attended a church service, through Marikiti, Burma and Gikomba markets before winding up at Jacaranda grounds.
The Linda Mwananchi team made several stopovers along the way before supporters proceeded along Jogoo Road towards Jacaranda grounds.
Addressing supporters at Marikiti market, Sifuna said the political feedback he has received during his countrywide tours points to growing support for his 2027 presidential bid.
Sifuna emphasized that the Ruto administration should be limited to one term, declaring that its time in power was coming to an end.
“This administration should get one term, their time is up,” said Sifuna.
However, the senator acknowledged that defeating Ruto would require a united opposition.
“It will not be easy. We must walk together with Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua and all other leaders in the opposition. Let us walk together,” Sifuna said.
The senator also thanked Nairobi residents for electing him to the Senate.
“Because you elected me as senator, I am now known across the country. I thank you for that opportunity you gave me,” he said.
Sifuna’s Nairobi tour brought together a broad group of opposition politicians and figures from different parts of the country.
Among those accompanying him were Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, Siaya Governor James Orengo and Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya.
Other leaders present included former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Kisii Senator Richard Onyoka, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, former Law Society of Kenya president Faith Odhiambo, Mavoko MP Patrick Makau, Kaiti MP Joshua Kimilu and political strategist Pauline Njoroge.
