Former Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa on Thursday, July 30 annouced her exit from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party.
In a press briefing, Jumwa said she decided to end her association with the ruling party after “deep reflection, heartfelt prater and extensive consultations”.
“After deep reflection, heartfelt prayer and countless consultations with the people I serve, I have made one of the most difficult decisions of my political life,” Jumwa stated.
She added: “From today, Aisha Jumwa Katana is no longer a member of the United Democratic Alliance.”
Jumwa cited betrayal and humiliation by President William Ruto as the main reason for her latest political move.
“And perhaps you [President Ruto] are not aware, but I was thrown out of State House when Coast leaders had come to see you. I sent you a message, and you never responded to me. I have been humiliated. Even when you come to Kilifi, it is as if you no longer recognise me.”
