Government keeps promise on prices as Diesel drops Ksh 10 in the new EPRA rate for June – July 2026

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new maximum retail fuel prices effective midnight tonight, June 15, 2026, and the most significant change is a Ksh 10 drop in the price of Diesel.

In a press release dated June 14, 2026, EPRA announced that Super Petrol prices will drop by Ksh 0.22 per litre while Diesel will decrease by Ksh 10.00 per litre.

The price of Kerosene remains unchanged at Kshs191.38

“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for Super Petrol and Diesel decrease by KSh 0.22/litre and KShs 10.00/litre respectively while the price of Kerosene remains unchanged,” the statement noted.

In Nairobi, Diesel will now retail at Ksh 222.86 per litre, down from the previous cycle.

Super Petrol also gets a slight trim, dropping by Ksh 0.22 to settle at Ksh214.03 per litre.

Kerosene users, however, will not see any change as the price holds at Ksh 191.38 per litre.

The new prices will remain in place until July 14, 2026.

The government will also cushion consumers further during this cycle by utilising approximately Ksh 10 billion from the Petroleum Development Levy Fund to subsidise the prices of Diesel and Kerosene.

“The Government will, in this cycle, cushion the consumers through the Petroleum Development Levy Fund by utilizing approximately KSh 10 billion to subsidize the prices of Diesel and Kerosene,” the statement noted.

All prices are inclusive of VAT and have been computed in line with the VAT Act 2013, the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws Amendment Act 2024, and revised excise duty rates under Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

EPRA reaffirmed its continued commitment to the observance of fair competition and protection of the interests of both consumers and investors in the energy and petroleum sectors.
