Governor Orengo, Senator Oburu vow to forge harmonious working relationship

Siaya Governor James Orengo and the area Senator Dr. Oburu Oginga have resolved to forge a harmonious working relationship to spur development in the county.

Governor Orengo says Siaya County can only do well if there is an open, candid, accountable and transparent working relationship between his office and the Senator’s office.

Therefore, Orengo has undertaken to ensure that the senator is well engaged on matters affecting the county so as to enable effective representation, noting that this is what will enable them to contest their share of revenue including conditional grants.

Speaking when he hosted Senator Oburu in his office on Monday, March 18, Governor Orengo was quick to point out that the move does not mean that they want to compromise the oversight role of the Office of the Senate.

The governor assured that the county executive shall be ready to provide the Office of the Senate with every information that would be required from them anytime to facilitate the Senator’s oversight role.

On his part, Senator Oburu stated that they came up with issues which are all within the legal framework to protect the counties and also to represent them effectively.

He stated, therefore, that they have agreed on how they are going to work together to guarantee value for the funds which have been brought to Siaya County.
