US President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final and jointly present the winner’s trophy alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, the global soccer governing body confirmed.
The announcement was made by Infantino during a televised interview on Tuesday morning, solidifying Trump’s first scheduled appearance at the tournament since it kicked off on June 11.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together,” Infantino stated during an appearance on *Fox & Friends*.
The final is scheduled for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The stadium, which is hosting eight matches during the expanded 48-team tournament, will hold over 80,000 spectators for the championship match.
While the United States is co-hosting the tournament alongside Canada and Mexico, President Trump has not yet attended any live matches, including the US Men’s National Team’s opening fixtures.
The planned joint ceremony marks a continuation of the close relationship between Trump and the FIFA leadership.
In December 2025, Infantino awarded Trump the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during the official World Cup draw in Washington, D.C.
The July 19 presentation will mirror a similar joint role undertaken by the two leaders at the same venue during the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final.
During that event, Trump participated in the trophy handover to English club Chelsea following their victory over Paris Saint-Germain.
Local authorities are expected to implement heightened security perimeters around the New Jersey venue for the final, following significant security lockdowns during Trump’s recent appearances at other major sporting events in the New York metropolitan region.
