Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU), working jointly with officers from Ololua, have dismantled a cannabis cultivation site in Kajiado County, recovering suspected cannabis worth an estimated KSh 2.37 million.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence that led officers to the illegal farm.

According to the DCI, detectives found the cannabis plantation fully established before securing the area and uprooting the cultivated plants.

“The operation yielded 78.98 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa packed into five sacks, with an estimated street value of KSh 2,369,000,” the agency said.

Police also arrested 40-year-old Joseph Leimyayan, who is currently in custody as detectives complete investigations ahead of his arraignment in court.

The latest operation forms part of an ongoing nationwide crackdown targeting the cultivation, trafficking and distribution of illegal narcotics.

Reaffirming its commitment to the fight against drug-related crimes, the DCI said it remains focused on dismantling illicit drug networks across the country through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with members of the public.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations reiterates its commitment to curbing the cultivation and trade of narcotics across the country,” the statement read.

The agency further appealed to Kenyans to continue providing information that could help investigators identify and disrupt illegal drug operations.

“Members of the public are urged to continue sharing actionable intelligence to aid in the dismantling of illicit drug networks,” the DCI added.

The DCI encouraged members of the public to report suspected drug-related activities anonymously through its toll-free hotline or WhatsApp reporting channel under the #FichuaKwaDCI initiative, saying public cooperation remains crucial in the fight against narcotics.
