Kenya names beach volleyball squad for Olympic qualifiers

Kenya has unveiled a formidable beach volleyball squad ahead of the upcoming Continental Beach Volleyball Championship and the LA 2028 Olympic Games zonal qualifiers set to take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from May 20 to 26, 2026.

The week-long tournament, organized under the Confederation of African Volleyball, will bring together top beach volleyball talent from across the continent as teams battle for regional supremacy and a chance to edge closer to Olympic qualification.

The Kenyan men’s squad features a blend of experienced players and rising stars, signaling the country’s intent to make a strong impression on the continental stage.

Leading the lineup is Joseph Muliro, alongside Richard Amutalla and Elphas Makuto. The team also includes Naftali Chumba, Anthony Chimanyi, Sammy Momanyi, Elisha Siret, and Reagan Kipchirchir.

On the women’s side, Kenya has assembled a dynamic squad led by Selina Gambo and Veronica Adhiambo, who brings international exposure from Greece.

The team also features Sharleen Sembel, Mercy Likhayo, Sharon Jepkogei, Pauline Itoo, Leonida Kasaya, and Jemima Siang’u.

The team will be guided by an experienced technical bench comprising head coach Patrick Owino, alongside Gaudencia Makokha, Sammy Mulinge, and Sila Makiso.

With preparations underway, expectations are high for the Kenyan side to not only challenge for top honors but also secure crucial qualification points on the road to Los Angeles 2028.

The tournament is expected to provide stiff competition, with several African nations fielding strong squads in pursuit of continental glory and Olympic dreams.
