Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has confirmed the death of all five quintuplets who had been referred from Thika Level Five Hospital for specialised care.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, KNH said the babies were born at just 25 weeks of pregnancy and had critically low birth weights, resulting in significant medical complications.
The hospital said its multidisciplinary neonatal team, including neonatologists, nurses and other health professionals, provided specialised care and made every effort to support the newborns.
Despite the medical team’s efforts, all five babies sadly passed away.
KNH expressed its condolences to the mother and the entire family, acknowledging the profound loss of losing all five newborns and offering its support during the difficult period.
