Neymar explains why he accepted a multi-million move to Saudi Arabia

Former Paris Saint Germaine(PSG) football star and Brazilian international Neymar has revealed that his decision to ditch Ligue 1 league for the Saudi Arabia league is to become a “global player” rather than money.

Neymar recently moved to Al Hilal who signed him for £86.3 million.

Media reports indicate that the Brazilian forward will earn £129.4 million per annum, for the two years he will play at the club.

Neymar has rubbished claims that he switched leagues for the lucrative deals players have been getting in the Saudi Arabia league which has big names from Major Leagues.

The Brazilian joins the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the fastest-growing football league, and as he prepares to embark on his new adventure at Al Hilal he will play alongside Senegalese Kalidou Koulibaliy and former Wolves Midfielder Ruben Neves.

Speaking for the first time at his new club after completing the move Neymar said that he has always wanted to test his limits and find new opportunities and challenges.

“I have achieved a lot in Europe and enjoyed special times, but I have always wanted to be a global player and test myself with new challenges and opportunities in new places.

“I want to write new sporting history, and the Saudi Pro League has tremendous energy and quality players at the moment.”

Neymar’s many injuries and absence of a Champions League title in his trophy cabinet will be remembered as factors that prevented him from realizing his full potential, despite being one of the best players at PSG.
