Police officers visit bereaved families after Kisii building collapse that killed 5

Officers from the National Police Service (NPS) on Wednesday, April 16 condoled with families affected by the collapse of a building in Kisii County.

Five people died after the four-storey building under construction collapsed in Itierio area on 6th April 2025.

Kisii County Police Commander Ronald Kirui led officers to Bogiakumu Location, Bonyando Sub-Location, to condole with the bereaved families.

The police boss expressed his heartfelt condolences, both personally and on behalf of the NPS, acknowledging the profound loss suffered by the families—many of whom lost their breadwinners.

He assured the bereaved families of his support during this difficult time of mourning.

The sombre gathering was attended by local community leaders, village elders, neighbours, and friends, as burial arrangements continue, scheduled for Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

The National Construction Authority has already pronounced itself on the matter, saying that the ill-fated building had already been flagged for demolition over non-compliance.
