Prado driver escapes death narrowly after colliding with trailer ferrying gas

Police in Kitengela, Kajiado County are working to resolve imminent danger from leaking gas in a trailer involved in an accident early Sunday morning.

In a report filed at Kitengela Police Station, the trailer, a Mercedes Actros under registration ZC 8833 was involved in a head-on-collision with a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado along Nairobi-Namanga Road at 2:10am.

Mohammed Sheikh Omar, was driving the trailer from Isinya to Kitengela when he collided with 48-year-old Geoffrey Gekara, who was aboard the Prado under registration KCR748U at Royal Finance area.

Apparently, the trailer, which was ferrying LPG gas, failed to stick to its lane, causing to collide head-on with the Prado.

As a result, the Prado was pushed off the road on the left side, landing in a ditch.

The Prado’s driver Geoffrey Gekara escaped death narrowly with serious head injuries and bruises on both hands.

He was rushed to St Paul’s Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

The wreckage was towed to Kitengela Police Station for inspection.

The trailer driver was also apprehended and his vehicle driven to the station as investigations into the incident begin. Gas from the trailer is reportedly leaking and county fire brigade officers were called to avert the impending danger.
