A senior police officer has died on the spot after he was involved in a fatal road accident in Ratili area, along the Narok-Bomet Highway.

Inspector Calvins Ochieng Onganda, who is the deputy base commander Narok, was driving a Toyota Premio car when he collided head on with a lorry belonging to Crown Parcel at around 9 am Monday, March 25.

A report filed at Mulot Police Station in Narok County says that Inspector Onganda, driving towards the Narok general direction was overtaking a lorry when he collided head on with the oncoming vehicle.

“As a result of the impact, both vehicles landed on the right side of the road as one faces Bomet direction. The police officer sustained serious injuries on both legs and chest and succumbed to the injuries on the spot,” the police report reads in part.

The body was removed to Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary pending autopsy.

The two vehicles involved in the accident have been towed to Ololulunga Police Station for inspection.
