Why Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka pulled out of England squad

Arsenal star Bukayo Saka on Thursday, March 21 evening left the England national team camp.

The Three Lions announced that Saka returned to his club for continued rehabilitation on an injury he reported to St. George’s Park with.

“The Arsenal forward reported to St. George’s Park with an injury and has been unable to participate in training,” the Three Lions announced.

England manager Gareth Southgate and his team have not planned any further replacements as his 25-man England squad continues their preparation for the forthcoming matches with Brazil and Belgium.

This announcement has pissed of a section of football fanatics who feel like the 22-year-old is not injured, but only prioritising his club over the national team.

But Saka’s withdrawal from the squad did not come as a surprise.

Gary Neville’s prediction

On Thursday morning, retired England international Gary Neville — while speaking on the Stick to Football podcast — had said this: “I’ve got a good feeling that one of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice or Phil Foden will pull out of the second England game in this break.”

He added: “The Arsenal players may not pull out of the England games because they’ve had an extra few day’s rest as they weren’t in the FA Cup.”
