22 years in waiting: Thousands of Arsenal fans flood Nairobi streets ahead of Premier League trophy coronation

Thousands of Arsenal F.C. supporters in Kenya have filled the streets of Nairobi as celebrations intensify ahead of the club’s official Premier League trophy coronation later on Sunday.

Major gatherings have been witnessed around the Nairobi CBD, Archives area and Tom Mboya Street, where fans dressed in Arsenal jerseys have been seen waving flags, singing club chants and marching through the streets in celebration of the club’s league triumph.

Processions have also spread to areas including Pipeline, Mukuru and Westlands, with traffic disruption reported along sections of Thika Road and within the city centre as supporters continue pouring into the streets.

Roundabouts and public spaces around the Archives area have been turned into celebration points, with fans dancing, chanting and gathering for a trophy viewing and cake-cutting event.

In England, at the Emirates Stadium (North London), thousands of fans have also flooded the streets in and around the stadium with street parties and packed watch events across the city

The celebrations follow Arsenal’s confirmation as 2025/26 Premier League champions earlier this week after Manchester City drew 1-1 with AFC Bournemouth, ending the North London club’s 22-year wait for the league crown.

The Premier League trophy is expected to be lifted later today at Selhurst Park after Arsenal’s final league match of the season against Crystal Palace, with the match set to kick off at 6.30 pm EAT.

Club captain Martin Ødegaard is expected to lead the trophy presentation ceremony before celebrations continue with a planned massive victory parade in London next Sunday, May 31 and depending on the outcome of their Champions League final against PSG, they may also be parading the European Cup to celebrate a historic double.
