The grand homecoming ceremony, held in Kapsabet, was not only a celebration of Sawe’s extraordinary success but also a tribute to the resilience, discipline, and excellence that define athletes from the region.

Leaders praised his determination, noting that his victory serves as motivation to the younger generation.

In recognition of his milestone achievement, the County Government of Nandi awarded Sawe a three-bedroom affordable housing unit in Kapsabet, alongside other gifts, as a token of appreciation for bringing global honour to the county and the nation at large.

The event was further graced by the presence of legendary retired athletes whose contributions have shaped Kenya’s athletics legacy.

Among them were Kipchoge Keino, Ibrahim Hussein, Patrick Sang, Tecla Chemabwai Sang, Fatwel Kimaiyo, and Janet Jepkosgei. Their presence underscored the rich heritage of athletics excellence in the region.

Current stars also joined in the celebrations, including Amos Kipruto, Emmanuel Wanyonyi, Cyprian Kotut, and Benson Kipruto, among others, highlighting the unity and continuity of Kenya’s athletics greatness.

Leaders and residents also extended heartfelt appreciation to Sawe’s parents for nurturing and supporting a talent that has now blossomed into global success.

As celebrations continue, Sawe’s victory stands not only as a personal milestone but also as a shared triumph for Nandi County and Kenya as a whole—an enduring reminder that greatness is achievable through hard work, resilience, and belief.

During the celebrations, Sawe urged fellow athletes to embrace discipline, humility, and respect for themselves and for others, saying these values remain key to success both on and off the track.

He noted that hard work, focus, and good character are just as important as talent in building a successful athletics career.

Sawe added that athletes from the region are continuing to train hard with the aim of breaking even more records and keeping Kenya at the top of world athletics.
