Former Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Culture Hassan Wario has officially resigned from the Jubilee Party and joined the National Economic Development Party (NEDP), setting the stage for a gubernatorial bid in Isiolo County on the party’s ticket ahead of the next General Election.

The announcement was made following a meeting between Wario and the NEDP leadership, where they outlined a shared development agenda for Isiolo and pledged to accelerate the completion of stalled projects across the county.

Wario, who hails from the majority Wajirde clan, reaffirmed his commitment to serving all residents of Isiolo regardless of their political affiliation, clan or background, saying his focus would be on inclusive leadership and sustainable development.

The meeting also reviewed several unfinished projects in the county. The leaders noted the successful installation of piped water at Kina Police Station and a solar power project at Kina Jamia Mosque as examples of ongoing development efforts.

Among the priorities agreed upon were the completion of stalled infrastructure projects, expansion of clean water access through borehole drilling, installation of solar power in mosques and churches, provision of public address systems and carpets for places of worship, upgrading health centres, equipping hospitals with essential medicines, and rolling out economic empowerment programmes targeting women and youth.

The NEDP leadership expressed confidence in Wario’s candidacy, saying his experience in public service positions him to spearhead transformative development in Isiolo County.

“We are committed to completing these projects and delivering meaningful development that will improve the lives of the people of Isiolo County,” the party said, wishing Wario success as he embarks on his gubernatorial campaign.
