KENHA closes section of Malindi-Sala Gate Highway due to floods

Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) has announced temporary closure of the Malindi-Sala Gate Highway at Madumadu Village in Kilifi County.

In a statement, KENHA said this was due to flooding after River Sabaki, located about 24 kilometres from Malindi Town, burst its banks.

This is as a result of heavy downpour experienced in highlands within the last few weeks.

Motorists are advised to use the Girimacha-Sosobora-Krashini Loop Road.

“The public is advised to exercise patience as the Authority embarks on measures aimed at ensuring seamless connectivity to facilitate movement of goods and services,” KENHA added.

Elsewhere in Samburu County, KENHA warned residents of Seiya to exercise utmost care when using the Kisima-Wamba B120 Road due to overtopping of Seiya Bridge.

Despite not closing off the bridge to pedestrians and motorists, the authority warned locals against reckless passage along that bridge.

This comes even as Kenya Meteorological Department warned of heavy rainfall over the weekend in most parts of the country, and a cyclone along the coastal areas.
