Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Geoffrey Ruku has accused some Cabinet colleagues of orchestrating a campaign to undermine Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, insisting that his position remains secure despite growing political speculation.

Speaking at Ontulili Secondary School in Buuri Constituency, Meru County, Ruku said that even if joining ODM became a political necessity, the Deputy President’s seat would remain with Kindiki and the Eastern Mt Kenya region.

Ruku also cautioned Cooperatives and MSMEs CS Wycliffe Oparanya and ODM Party leaders against what he termed as disrespect towards the Deputy President. He further warned that Eastern Mt Kenya could reconsider its political ties with Western Mt Kenya if elders from the Kiama Kia Ma movement fail to denounce remarks by Rigathi Gachagua that he said demean Kindiki.

Chuka/Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene reaffirmed his support for Kindiki, saying he is the most suitable leader to continue serving as Deputy President, and urged ODM leaders to stop expressing interest in the position.

Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri, on his part, said the entire Mt Kenya region remains firmly behind the Kenya Kwanza government ahead of the 2027 General Election.
