Three suspected drug traffickers have been arrested following a multi-agency operation that led to the recovery of cannabis sativa valued at approximately KSh1.2 million in Rachuonyo North Sub-County, Homa Bay County.

According to a statement issued by the National Police Service (NPS) on Saturday, June 13, 2026, the operation was conducted by officers from Kendu Bay Police Station in collaboration with National Government Administrative Officers (NGAO).

The team included the Area Chief of Rambira Location and the Assistant Chief of Kamser Seka Sub-Location, who worked alongside police officers during the raid.

“A multi-agency security team in Homa Bay County conducted a successful operation in Rachuonyo North Sub-County, arresting three suspected drug traffickers and seizing a large consignment of cannabis sativa with an estimated street value of KSh1.2 million,” the statement read.

During the operation, officers recovered 636 rolls of cannabis sativa packed in two green sacks and a white carrier bag.

The suspects were subsequently taken to Kendu Bay Police Station, where they remain in custody awaiting processing and arraignment in court. The seized narcotics have been secured at the station and will be used as exhibits during the legal proceedings.

The National Police Service praised the cooperation between security agencies, local administrators and members of the public, noting that such partnerships are key in combating drug-related crimes.

“The National Police Service commends the seamless collaboration between station officers, local administrators, and residents,” NPS said.

The agency added that the operation demonstrates its continued resolve to eliminate drug trafficking networks and safeguard communities from the effects of illegal substances.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing as authorities prepare to charge the suspects in court.
