The Kikuyu Law Court granted police orders to dispose a consignment of Illicit brews and hard drugs that were confiscated and surrendered as exhibits.

This, police say, was a move to prevent the said illicit alcohols and drugs from resurfacing back to the market as the crackdown against the vice continues.

A multi-agency team, led by Kikuyu Deputy County Commissioner Charles Lamboso, oversaw the destroying of the said items, which included setting them on fire.

Lamboso says that the ongoing crackdown will boost and minimize the availability of the illicit brews where if supply is controlled the usage will also drastically reduce.

Kiambu County Police Commander Michael Muchiri says they are implementing the directives recently announced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki.

He urged the Agikuyu Community to judiciously follow the directives that were given by a recent court ruling with regards traditional brewers. The courts agreed that the traditional brew (popularly known as Muratina) should be made for cultural ceremonies, but not for commercialization.
