Police officers in Nairobi County have stepped up operations against the manufacture and distribution of illicit alcohol, with authorities recovering more than 800 litres of illegal brews in Starehe Sub-County.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 11, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said the operation was part of ongoing efforts aimed at protecting public health and enhancing security within communities.
According to the Service, officers from Korogocho Police Station, working jointly with National Government Administration Officers, carried out a raid in the Ngomongo area where they confiscated 800 litres of Kangara and 33 litres of Chang’aa.

The operation comes amid renewed efforts by security agencies to curb the production and sale of illicit brews, which have previously been linked to deaths, health complications and rising insecurity in various parts of the country.
The National Police Service lauded the support it continues to receive from local administrators and members of the public in the fight against illegal alcohol.
“The National Police Service commends the cooperation of local administrators and members of the public in the fight against illicit alcohol,” NPS stated.
The Service further urged residents to remain vigilant and provide information that could help authorities dismantle illegal brewing networks.
“Members of the public are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, or via the emergency numbers 999 and 911, the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line 0800 722 203, or WhatsApp on 0709 570 000,” the statement added.
