ODM leaders Arati, Otuoma call for peaceful demonstrations ahead of June 25 anniversary

ODM leaders have called on Kenyans planning to participate in tomorrow’s demonstrations commemorating the 2024 Finance Bill protests to remain peaceful and law-abiding.

Speaking during a compensation exercise for victims of police brutality in Nairobi today, ODM Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati urged demonstrators to exercise their constitutional right peacefully.

He emphasized that ODM will continue to support Kenyans and criticize the government whenever it fails to address public concerns.

Busia Governor Paul Otuoma welcomed the government’s compensation initiative but noted that he is yet to personally hear President William Ruto’s apology to affected families.

Otuoma also defended the right of Kenyans to demonstrate, warning leaders against discouraging citizens from exercising their constitutional freedoms.

ODM Acting Secretary General Catherine Omanyo criticized leaders opposing the NADCO report, urging them to acknowledge its achievements and remain honest in public discourse.

Meanwhile, Oburu Oginga dismissed claims that he has never experienced demonstrations, saying he too has been a victim of police brutality.

He called for peaceful protests and urged security officers to protect demonstrators throughout tomorrow’s commemorative events nationwide.
