Shock and grief has engulfed Tuikut Village in Cheptais, Mt Elgon Constituency, following the shooting death of former councillor Nathan Wasama.

Wasama, a former councillor who represented Chesikaki Ward, was killed by unknown assailants on Thursday, August 6 night at his home.

According to reports, the assailants raided his residence and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.

A video making rounds on Facebook shows locals, overwhelmed with emotions, sorrounding the late Wasama’s body which bore a bullet wound on his chest.

At the time of publishing this piece, police were yet to confirm the details sorrounding the incident.

The killing comes weeks after Wasama declared his intention to vie for the Mt Elgon Parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
